Function
The purpose of the class is to lead a team in the conception, development, and implementation of the youth artistic vision and focus of the Hampton Coliseum/Hampton Arts Department. The class works under general supervision according to set procedures. May supervise others.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Arts Education, Arts Administration, Public Administration, Fine Arts, Business Administration or a related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience in a performing arts theatre or visual arts facility, management of community programs, services, or other arts related programs.
  • Two (2) years supervisory experience is required.
  • May require some travel.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.
  • This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy.
  • Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
Additional Requirements
  • Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
  • May require working non-standard hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
