Role Summary

  1. Assists in administering and reviewing all contracts in order to ensure consistency and compliance with University and IHL policies and procedures.
  2. Reviews all contracts from a business perspective.
  3. Verifies contract financial projections analyses.
  4. Ensures compliance with UM policies and procedures.
  5. Conducts contract activity and/or assessment of required deviations from established norm.
  6. Develops negotiation strategies and standards for contracts. 

Examples of Work Performed

  • Reviews contracts for compliance with IHL and university policies and terms of the contracts. Analyzes significant and/or unique contract requirements, special provisions, terms and conditions to ensure compliance. 
  • Verifies multi-year cost assumptions against the provisions of the contract.
  • Assists with the implementation of vendor contracts in relation to UM policies.
  • Assists business teams on UM goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for the entire contract lifecycle, requiring high level of skill to manage and negotiate contracts; involved in all steps of planning, conducting, and documenting contract negotiations. Performs post-contract administration activities, including tracking major provisions, ensuring both internal (UM) and vendor compliance, tracking expiration and renewal dates, and monitoring contract cost.
  • Advises end users on the contract management system.
  • Provides authoritative guidance to internal business teams on UM goals and objectives. Maintains contract authority and delegation list and ensures appropriate training is provided to those with delegated authority.
  • Ensures contracts executed by contracting authority follow UM guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Facilitates, obtains, disseminates, and files executed contracts.
  • Maintains contract list and tracking system of all agreements, contract issues, and communications with internal and external sources.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree
