About the Role: As a Vet Assistant at Garden Oaks Veterinary Center, your main responsibility will be to provide support to the veterinarians and ensure the smooth operation of the clinic. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience working with animals, such as in a veterinary clinic, animal shelter, or pet care facility. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with pet owners and team members in a professional and compassionate manner. Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and effectively. Basic knowledge of animal care and medical terminology. Preferred Qualifications: Certification or degree in veterinary technology or a related field. Experience with surgical assistance and anesthesia monitoring. Knowledge of common veterinary medications and their uses. Experience with laboratory procedures, such as blood draws and sample processing. Experience with electronic medical record systems. Responsibilities: Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals, including administering medications, performing vaccinations, and assisting with surgeries. Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including cleaning and sterilizing equipment and facilities. Provide support to pet owners, including answering questions, scheduling appointments, and providing education on pet care and preventive medicine. Assist with laboratory procedures, such as collecting and processing samples for testing. Skills: In this role, you will utilize your strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members. Your ability to handle and restrain animals safely and effectively will be essential in providing quality care. Additionally, your knowledge of animal care and medical terminology will allow you to assist veterinarians in providing medical treatments and procedures. Attention to detail and organizational skills will be important in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the clinic.
